Located in the Midlands of Great Britain, we are a heritage clothing brand, unashamedly inspired by the past, in style as well as in spirit.

Pioneers from the early 20th century (sometimes earlier) provide a constant source of inspiration to the range of Knitwear, Shirts, Caps and Apparel.

Tradition and quality flows through the very heart of what we do; bringing together the finest in British manufacturing, textiles and design.

The result? Unique and versatile clothing, that will last you a life time.

Who was Stanley Biggs?

Our story starts in 1919, when Stanley Douglas Biggs was born in London.

Like so many men his age, he joined up at the outbreak of the Second World War, serving as a medical orderly in 181 Airlanding Field Ambulance Unit, Royal Army Medical Corps.

His unit was part of the Airlanding Forces that took part in the Battle of Arnhem during Operation Market Garden in September 1944.

Tragically, he succumbed to his wounds on 25th September 1944 and is now buried in Oosterbeek Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery.

It is in his memory that the brand was created by founder, Sophie Bainbridge in 2019.

Stanley's full story can be read in "Red Berets and Red Crosses" by Niall Cherry. To purchase a copy, please get in touch.

Amazingly, Stanley was filmed on 18th September 1944. He is seen standing on the left in the photograph.

Our Story Thus Far

Since opening for business in 2019, it has been one big adventure here at Stanley Biggs HQ and already we have had the privilege to meet and work with the wonderfully talented people.

The brand was conceptualised while sat in front of a roaring fire over the Christmas of 2018. The branding, from logo to clothing designs were entirely the creation of owner Sophie, who decided to give up the ‘9-5’ sales job and jump into the world of self-employment full time.

While no stranger to running a successful business, fashion and design was an entirely new area for Sophie to enter into, so it was a venture that was met with some trepidation by friends and family. But, with typical gusto and confidence Sophie set about forming the brand's values in every detail – with a bit of help from a lot of friends.

After a busy and eventful first year, the brand was just hitting its stride when the Coronavirus outbreak hit – and we all know about that!

Now, Stanley Biggs Clothiers has customers based all over the world, is beginning to work with other outlets across the globe, and has been recognised by some of the highest regarded fashion publications on the planet . Not bad for the year that was 2020.
